The President of the Football Federation of Ukraine Andrei Pavelko commented on the nomination of his candidacy for the UEFA Executive Committee.
Today, the executive committee of the FFU decided to nominate Andrei Pavelko in the executive committee of UEFA. Elections will be held in February next year. According to the new UEFA regulations, the current representative of Ukraine, Grigory Surkis, can not continue to occupy this place, since he is not an active member of the FFU.
"The UEFA Charter has changed, only active members of the federation - the president, the vice-president or the secretary general, can only stand for election," Pavelko told the football channel.
"The members of the executive committee proposed already now to start a selective campaign, actively negotiate with the European colleagues about support, so as not to lose space in the UEFA executive committee from Ukraine".
"Ukraine can not stay away. I am grateful that the members of the Executive Committee took the initiative. I am grateful that my candidacy was supported unanimously. We can be on the same team as the UEFA leadership, so that Ukraine could hold such events as the Champions League final ".
Since the summer of 2017, Pavelko has served as deputy head of the UEFA Legal Committee.
