Feyenoord is close to signing striker Robin van Persie on a free transfer.

Striker Robin van Persie agreed terms of his return to Feyenoord, according to AD Sportwereld.

It is expected that the best scorer in the history of the Netherlands will join the team of Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the beginning of next week.

At the moment, the 34-year-old forward is a player of Fenerbahce, but the parties are close to canceling the contract by mutual agreement. This season, Robin spent for the Turkish club only four games in all tournaments.

Van Persie already played for Feyenoord between 2001 and 2004, when he scored 21 goals in 76 games in all tournaments.
