Everton's defender Mason Holgate accused Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino of racism, but was himself convicted of homophobia.
Holgate and Firmino grappled during a match between Liverpool and Everton (2-1) in the FA Cup. The encounter took place after Holgate pushed Firmino in the back and he flew into the crowd, flying over billboards.
After the game, Holgate complained to Judge Bobby Madley that Firmino had offended him on the basis of racism.
In this case, Holgate deleted his account in the social network Twitter. As it turned out later, the reason was Mason's accusations of homophobia.
In 2012, he used in his tweets the words "fagot" (fagot) and batty boy (can be translated as "pedril").
The Football Association has already begun an investigation into Holgate's statement.
It remains to be seen whether Everton's defender will be punished for his tweets made in 15 years. It is worth noting that in 2016, forward Bernley Andre Gray received a four-legged disqualification for such reports on Twitter, made a few years before the punishment.
In the current campaign on the account Holgate 17 matches in all tournaments for Everton, in which he earned 3 yellow cards.
