Ajax appointed Eric Ten Hag as the head coach of the first team, the official website of Amsterdam.
The agreement with the 47-year-old ten hag, who previously worked in Utrecht, will enter into force on January 1, 2018, and will be calculated until June 2020.
In this capacity, he will replace Marcel Kaiser, who was retired with his assistants Dennis Bergkamp and Henny Spiikerman after losing to Twente in the Netherlands Cup.
Ten Hag, a former central defender who spent most of his playing career in Twente, worked as an assistant coach in Twente and PSV.
He also has an independent coaching experience with Go Ahead Eagles and Bavaria II.
At the helm of Utrecht, which he headed since May 2015, ten Hag held 111 matches: 56 wins, 25 draws, 30 defeats. In the first half of the current season, Utrecht defeated Ajax 2: 1 on the road.
After 18 games, Ajax scored 41 points and is second in the standings, behind PSV by five points.
