The Football Observatory CIES conducted research, which determined which of the participants in the future World Cup in the selection for Mundial participated in the highest and most age-related compositions.

Age.

The average age of all World Cup players who participated in qualifying matches for the tournament is 27.4 years. This figure is significantly higher than the one that CIES previously counted for the 31 European championships - 25 years.

Note that the oldest national teams - North American Panama and Costa Rica, as well as former rivals of the Ukrainian national team Icelanders.

Only one team is younger than the current champions of the world of Germans - Nigeria. Among the favorites of the future tournament, France is also not the most experienced.

CONCACAF, with its two leaders in this rating, is also the leader among the federations with a figure of 28.6 years. CONMEBOLE is the second, and AFC and UEFA have identical indicators.

Growth.

The average growth of participants in the World Cup is less than the growth of players performing in the 31st best European Championship - 181.7 against 182.1.

Spain became the only European team whose average growth is less than 180 cm, but below the Pyrenees Argentina, Peru, Japan and Saudi Arabia. The latter are far inferior to all other teams.

Note that UEFA dominates among all associations for the growth of players. This is not surprising, because 8 of the 9 highest teams of the World Cup-2018 - from Europe.

Earlier it was also reported that only seven participants in the 2018 World Cup did not use players born outside their own country.
