At the end of the autumn part of the championship among high schools, the All-Ukrainian Football Students' Association (VFAS) held the Patriots Cup - a short-term tournament that brought together four representatives of the Student League of Ukraine.

The festival of student football took the suburb of the capital - Irpen, and most of the games took place at the newest city stadium Champion.

"For the first time we are holding a cup tournament together with the championship, which we plan to make traditional. The purpose of such events is to promote student football. The tournament was attended by the current champion of the Student League of FC Ternopil-Peduniversitet, the two-time champion of Ukraine - the Kiev SK KTEUU-Mercury, the finalists of the championships of the past years - the team of the UGBSU from Irpen and the Odessa football club Yunga-Maritime Academy.

On the first day of the game, the semifinals. The hosts of the tournament - the team of the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine received sailors from Odessa. Irpenov already in the first minutes of the match marked their advantage when the attacking tax officials Yuri Shcheritsa noted double. In the future, the team of Roman Korshikov embodied his superiority in three goals scored. As a result, the hosts won a confident victory with a score of 5: 0.

But in the second semifinal, there were equal teams in the class. Champions of Ukraine in the last four years could not identify the winner in regular time. Interestingly, Kiev economists at the expense of the heads of Vladislav Trusky and Nikolai Berezovsky won in the course of the meeting with a difference of two goals. But in the second half the Ternopal players showed their character and after the exact blows of Igor Gatal and Ivan Kogut they transferred the game to the series of post-match penalties. The hero of the same football lottery was the goalkeeper SK KNTEU-Mercury Dmitry Mikheev, who repulsed two hits. Thus, the people of Kiev went to the finals, and the current champion Studliga could count on a maximum of the third place.

And bronze (not without difficulty, but still) FC Ternopil-Peduniversitet still got. In the bout with the Odessa jungles, everything was decided by Andrey Riznyk's goal, scored in the first half. In fairness, we note that the team of Basil Iveges could score more, but a number of scoring chances Ternopal did not realize.

Final, as befits the main match of the tournament, turned out to be fighting. In the opening of the meeting the hosts of the tournament looked better, supported by a solid army of fans. So the attacking Irpentsev Yuri Shcheritsa had at once two opportunities to open an account. However, the ball at the end of the first half flew into the opposite gate. Maxim Skripnik took advantage of the error of the defenders of the "tax collectors" and outplayed Arthur Khimich. After the break, the game was held on a collision course. In such cases, much decides which team will score first. Kyivites again distinguished themselves: Skrypnik realized the output of dynes for one. With the score 2: 0 in favor of SK KNTEU-Mercury and this meeting was concluded.

During the awards ceremony, WFAS President Ivan Krulko thanked the students for participating in the tournament, noting that in the Patriots Cup there are no losers. After all, the holiday of student football was a success, and this is the most important thing.

Among the honored guests of the tournament, who awarded the prizewinners, was the vice-president of the Ukrainian Football Federation Andrei Matsola, as well as the former player of Dynamo Kiev and the Ukrainian national team Vladislav Vashchuk. I should note that the level of the game demonstrated by the teams is not inferior to the clubs of the Second Ukrainian League. I am confident that in the near future student football in Ukraine will take its niche in the youth environment and will receive a worthy popularity ".

So, in the debut of the Patriots Cup, the success was celebrated by Kyiv economists headed by Alexey Yatsenko. Student football meanwhile goes to the winter break. Regular championship among universities will continue in March next year.
