Cazorla in an interview with Marca talked about his injury to the Achilles tendons, because of which he has not been playing for over a year (since October 2016). According to the Spaniard, he almost lost his leg due to gangrene.

As a result of numerous operations, Santi lost 8 centimeters of right ankle tendons. At a certain stage, doctors seriously considered the possibility of amputating the foot of a football player, after he brought a potentially life-threatening infection.

However, everything went well and Cazorla could even play football again. Presumably he will return to the field in January. Now Santi continues rehabilitation in his hometown - Salamanca.

Cazorla moved to Arsenal in 2012 from Malaga. Since then, he played 129 Premier League games and won the FA Cup three times.
