Since 2021 participation in the tournament will be accepted immediately by 24 clubs. Teams will be divided into three equal groups of 8 participants.

FIFA wants to hold the Club World Cup not in the winter, as it is done now, but in June, it will last 18 days.

At the moment there are 7 teams participating in the Club World Championship - 6 winners of continental club tournaments and hosts of the tournament.
