It was assumed that the African Nations Cup in 2018 will be held in Kenya.

"The overwhelming majority of the members of the executive committee decided to withdraw the right to conduct KAN-2018 from Kenya. The reason was the delay in terms, revealed during various inspections in the country, the last of which was held from 11 to 17 September 2017, "says the statement of the African Football Confederation.

"The acting secretary general of the organization was instructed to immediately open the process of accepting applications for the right to hold a tournament. Applicants will be named within 15 days from the beginning of this process ".

In addition, the AFC meeting approved the candidacy of Morocco, who applied for the World Cup 2026, which will be attended by 48 teams.
