Back to the roots: England football of the early 20th century in color

We suggest to return in time to England's football fields and feel the atmosphere that reigned here at the beginning of the 20th century.

Most of the photos of that time have survived to us in black and white, but in the able hands even an old photo can heal on a new.

Let's see how the football battles in England looked in the early 1900s.

Team of Great Britain at the Olympics in 1912 in Stockholm. Then they won gold, defeating Denmark in the final 4: 2.

The captains of Chelsea and Tottenham together with the referee determine who will start the match from the center of the field (1913).

The second champion of Manchester United in 1911. Now they have 20 such titles on their account.

Billy "Dixie" Dean comes out of the tunnel next to Liverpool goalkeeper Elish Scott before the derby of Merseyside.

"The Pals battalion was formed during the First World War.

Arsenal plays against Fulham on the new Highbury, the club's first season at this legendary stadium, which is no longer there.

Villa Park in 1907 was filled in Aston Villa matches to the limit.

In 1893, Aston Villa first appeared in her current colors.
