Dutch coach Louis van Gaal commented on his dismissal from Manchester United at the end of last season.
Van Gaal headed Manchester United 2 seasons. In his last match, the Dutchman won the FA Cup, after which it was announced that he would be replaced by Jose Mourinho. The coach believes that the management of Manchester United did not do well with him.
"I was under enormous pressure, my head was in a loop, and the club acted behind my back. I think all this was painted as in a movie, where a lot has happened behind my back since January, "Louis complained in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad.
"I understand why the choice of Manchester United fell on Mourinho. Jose suddenly found himself free for a year and a half before the end of my contract. I knew that one day they would want it ".
"I was told about the dismissal after the information about it leaked to the press and this was one of the greatest disappointments in my life. United did not discuss anything with me. If people came to me with plans to appoint Mourinho, I would say:
"Okay, let's do our best in the last six months, and then let Jose come". The club would save on my annual salary if I did it. But that's how I made them pay every penny ".
Last season, Manchester United, under the leadership of Mourinho, took only 6th place in the Premier League, but managed to return to the Champions League thanks to the victory in the European League.
