FIFA decided to replay the qualifying match of the 2018 World Cup between the teams of South Africa and Senegal after the referee appointed a penalty for a nonexistent hand.

In November 2016, the South African team defeated the Senegal national team 2: 1 in the qualifying match of the 2018 World Cup.

One of the goals of the hosts scored from the penalty spot for allegedly playing with his hand in his own free-kick defender of the Senegalese team Kalida Coulibaly. However, the repetitions clearly show that the ball hit Coulibaly in the knee, and then sank to the lawn.

FIFA conducted an investigation against Judge Joseph Lampti and ruled that the Ghanaian referee deliberately influenced the outcome of the match, for which he was disqualified for life.

Now FIFA has announced that the national teams of South Africa and Senegal will have to replay this match during the upcoming November international break.
