London Chelsea lost the fight to Manchester United for Romela Lukaku, but a little later announced the transfer of the forward of Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata.

Spanish midfielder has already chosen a game room in the new club - №9. However, there are fans who are afraid that the player will not be able to prove himself in all its glory because of the curse of this number.

Earlier we talked about the curse of the "nine" in the London Arsenal. In Chelsea, especially in the era of Roman Abramovich, players acting under this number also, in general, do not impress.

We suggest remembering those who still enjoyed their game in the Chelsea shirt with number 9, and those that the fans would prefer to throw out of their memory.

Good Gianluca Vialli (1996/99) The Italian moved to Chelsea as a free agent in the summer of 1996.

Vialli twice helped the club win trophies (the FA Cup and the League Cup) while noting 40 goals scored in 78 games in all tournaments.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (2000/04).

The Dutchman came to Chelsea, having the experience of playing in the Premier League, where he pounded 34 goals in two seasons in Leeds.

At Stamford Bridge, he continued to speak at the highest level. Although the first seasons were much better than the last (55 goals from 2000 to 2002, and 32 goals from 2002 to 2004), Hasselbaink will be remembered by Chelsea fans as one of the club's best forwards.

Will come Mark Stein (1994/96) Stein proved to be a good striker in the lower divisions and moved to Chelsea in 1993. A year later he took himself a T-shirt with number 9.

He scored 11 goals in the 1994/95 season (although the year before it was 14), but it can not be said that he fully realized his potential in Chelsea.

Hernan Crespo (2005/06) Having joined the team in 2003, Crespo took himself number 21, and after returning from the lease in Milan began to wear a "nine".

During the 2005/06 season, the Argentinian played 30 Premier League games and scored 10 goals, once again he scored in the cup, and scored two goals in the Champions League.

Bad Tony Cascarino (1992/94) The first player in the history of Chelsea, for which the season was affixed "nine" was Tony Cascarino.

The forward was very hammered in the 80s when he played for Gillingham and Millwall, but moving to Chelsea in 1992 dramatically stopped upsetting rivals.

In the second season (when the numbers began to be assigned to the players), Cascarino managed to register only four times, and the team took the 14th place.

Chris Sutton (1999/2000) Now 10 million pounds is the fifth part of the transfer of Kyle Walker or Benjamin Mendy, but when for that money in 1999 Chelsea bought Chris Sutton from Blackburn - the world shuddered.

Despite his success in the last team, for Chelsea Sutton did not bring tangible benefits, for the only season scoring just three times in 39 matches.

Mateja Kezman (2004/05) Chelsea fans in 2004 were delighted with the arrival of the Serbian striker, who proved himself an incredible scorer in PSV.

Chelsea spent an incredible season, winning the championship and the League Cup, but this can not be said about Kezman. He scored in the final of the League Cup Liverpool, but also managed to score only five goals in all competitions.

Fernando Torres (2011/14) For the Spanish goleader, one of the best football players in the world, Liverpool in January 2011 were paid 50 million pounds.

At first it seemed that Torres simply could not find himself, but with every match there was less hope of seeing Fernando from Liverpool.

Torres nevertheless made a big contribution to the team's achievements, for example, in the victory in the Champions League 2012, but still was only a shadow of his former.

Radamel Falcao (2015/16) The Colombian striker was fine in Porto and Atletico Madrid. The move to Manchester United was seen as a step up the career ladder, but in the camp of the Red Devils Radamel failed.

This did not stop the Londoners, who nevertheless decided to strengthen the player. It turned out just as useless.

He played only 12 times, scoring one goal, and then returned to Monaco to re-show himself as a great scorer.

What was that at all?.

Khalid Boulahruz (2006/07) Number 9 in football is associated with the central strikers, but in 2006 Chelsea acquired from Hamburg the central defender Khalid Boulahruz, who took this number because he was free after leaving Crespo.

As it turned out later, the choice of such an unconventional number for centerback - was the most notable moment in the career of Boulahrouz in Chelsea. After 20 matches he left the team.

Steve Sidwell (2007/08) As soon as Boulahrouz left for Seville, Steve Sidwell took his number.

The signing of the midfielder, the main feature of which was a red head, and not some kind of game quality, looked strange. Probably, very few people expected that he will perform in Chelsea an important role and will stay in the club for a long time.

The following summer, after spending 20 Blue matches, Sidwell moved to Aston Villa.

Franco Di Santo (2008/09) The talented striker joined the first team of Chelsea in 2008, having moved from the Chilean Championship.

He immediately took himself the 9th number, released after Sidwell's departure. Di Santo never became a base player for Luis Felipe Scolari and was leased to Blackburn, after which he completely left Chelsea.

During that first season, he managed to play 16 times in all tournaments, but he did not open the score for goals against Blue.
