Ex-French national team player Mathieu Valbuena acknowledged that his career should continue outside of France because of a scandalous story with Karim Benzema.
Because of the trial, both players missed Euro 2016, and later Valbuena moved from Lyon to Fenerbahce.
"Despite all that said, Lyon would be happy to hold me, but my future can only be abroad," admitted Valbuena.
"I do not regret signing a contract with Lyon. These were two difficult but positive years.
My stories outside of sport have not helped me at all. People are trying to put pressure on me ".
"Everybody knows why I was not at Euro. I felt bitter, but decided to move on. The team still in my memory, but I moved away from it with the advent of a new generation ".
"Soon I'll still come back, I have a house here. And, of course, I will always be a fan of Marcel, "- admitted Valbuena.
It is worth noting that Karim Benzema won a review in the court case of blackmail Mathieu Valbuena.
