The head of the FIFA refereeing committee Massimo Buzacca believes that the video assistants of the referee reduced the number of judicial errors, but have not yet solved the problem as a whole.
FIFA ex-referee Massimo Buzacca, now head of the International Football Federation's judging committee, does not doubt the usefulness of the introduction of video replay, but believes that this system still requires improvement.
"If you judge in general, the use of video assistants of the referee brings unquestionable benefit," said the Swiss. - During the group tournament of the Confederations Cup with the help of video replay, six errors were corrected that could affect the final result. In another 29 cases, the arbitrators were able to make the right decision in less fateful moments. However, they do not yet allow to completely exclude errors.
Hence follows the conclusion: video replay is undoubtedly useful, but the system of their use is not yet perfect and requires a significant improvement ".
FIFA is going to recommend to the continental football confederations and national federations to continue testing the system of video replay in competitions under their aegis, and the final decision on the appropriateness of using them in the final tournament of the 2018 World Cup will be made in March next year.
