Southampton announced the appointment of Mauricio Pellegrino as manager.

Argentinean Mauricio Pellegrino became the new manager of Southampton, signing with the club a three-year contract.

In this post, the 45-year-old Pellegrino will replace Claude Puel, who was fired after a season at the helm of the Saints.

"My philosophy fits well with the culture of the club," said Pellegrino.

"I want to win, to achieve success and create a team spirit, where everyone puts 100% and supports each other".

Last season, Pellegrino coached Alaves, with whom he took ninth place in the standings of La Ligia and reached the final of the Copa del Rey, in which he lost to Barcelona.
