Croatian authorities began an investigation against the captain of the national team and midfielder Real Luka Modric, who may have perjured in court.
Modric was a witness in the case against ex-president Dynamo Zdravko Modric, who is suspected of financial fraud. It is assumed that he appropriated more than 15 million euros from the treasury of Dynamo.
It is also reported that Mamich concluded overcharged contracts with players who then rolled back some of his money.
Modrica was asked to talk about his transition to Tottenham in 2008. According to the supplement to the contract, Luka was to receive about 50% of the cost of his transfer. According to the player, he gave this money to Mamich's people.
The prosecutor's office is suspicious of the fact that it was Modric who signed this supplement.
In court, Luka claimed that in July 2004, but the investigation suspects that this was done after the conclusion of the treaty with Tottenham.
In case the guilt is proven, Modrica faces 6 months to 5 years of imprisonment. By the way, the Croatian media noted Luka's apparent discomfort during the testimony in court.
Croatian fans a few days ago expressed their disappointment in Modriches, pointing to his greed and demanded to strip Luke captain's bandage in the national team.
