Liverpool apologized to Southampton for the situation with Virgil van Dyke and announced that he was no longer interested in the defender of the Saints.

Earlier it was reported that van Dyck met with representatives of Liverpool and agreed with the "red" terms of personal contract.

However, Southampton complained to the leadership of the Premier League, saying that they did not give Liverpool permission to enter into negotiations with his player.

In response, Liverpool made an official statement on its website.

"Liverpool regrets the recent speculation in the media about Southampton and the transfer of the player between the two clubs".

"We apologize to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstandings about Virgil van Dyck".

"We respect the position of Southampton and can confirm that we are no longer interested in this player".

According to rumors, Liverpool has already switched his attention to Stefan de Vray from Lazio.
