The head coach of the Miner Paulo Fonseca was recognized as the best trainer of the ULP in the season 2016/17.

The Portuguese specialist managed to lead Shakhtar to the title in the first season at the helm of the club. Thanks to this, Fonseca was recognized as the best trainer of the ULP in the last season.

In the dispute over the award, the Portuguese beat the Dnipro coach Dmitry Mikhaylenko and Zari coach Yuri Vernidub, who also entered the top three. Also among the nominees were Roman Sanzhar, Sergei Rebrov, Vladimir Sharan and Leonid Kuchuk, the official website of the ULE.

Earlier, Paulo Fonseca stated that he plans to stay in Shakhtar, despite the interest from other clubs.
