Captains of 12 Dutch clubs opposed the game on artificial lawns.
Of the 18 captains of the Dutch championship clubs, 12 signed the Manifesto banning matches on artificial lawns. They were Dirk Kuyt (Feyenoord), Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Luke de Jong (PSV), Stein Schars (Heerenveen), Ron Vlar (AZ) Sander Dayts (Go Ahead Eagles), Willem Janssen (Utrecht), Gregor Brainburg (NEC), Guram Kashia (Vitesse), Sergio Padt (Groningen), Jordens Peters (Willem II) and Stefan Tesker (Twente).
Note that in the championship of the Netherlands on the artificial lawn home matches are held by six clubs: Heracles, Zwolle, Excelsior, Den Haag, Roda and Sparta. It was the captains of these clubs who became the only non-signers of the manifesto.
