At the meeting of the 67th FIFA Congress an important decision for Ukraine was made: FFU President Andrey Pavelko was elected a member of the disciplinary committee of the International Football Federation.
Delegates of the FIFA Congress supported the proposal of the president of the organization Gianni Infantino and voted the new composition of the Disciplinary Committee, which will work for the next four years. The candidacy of Andrei Pavelko was introduced on the eve of the FIFA Council by UEFA President Alexander Cheferin. Previously, Cheferin himself worked in the FIFA disciplinary committee, but, after his election as the head of UEFA, he offered to transfer his powers to Andrei Pavelko.
According to the president of FFU, who received a high position in FIFA, for him it is a great honor and great responsibility.
"We closely cooperate with Alexander Cheferin from the very beginning of his presidency, Ukraine is a reliable ally of the president of UEFA in the implementation of systemic reforms in European football," said Andrei Pavelko.
FIFA Congress decision became historic for Ukraine. After all, before the representatives of our country have never held office in the committees of the International Football Organization.
Andrey Pavelko is sure that this is an excellent opportunity not only to represent Ukraine in FIFA, but also to exchange unique experience with colleagues from other countries.
"We will do everything possible to adopt and implement in Ukraine the best achievements of the world football community, train domestic specialists and lay the foundation for the principled improvement of the work of Ukrainian disciplinary bodies. The appearance of the representation of Ukraine in FIFA will contribute to the successful reform of our football system, "- said the president of FFU.
