Carrick spent 11 seasons in the Red Devils, for which he won both all the national trophies of England, and the Champions League.

However, to win in the European League Michael has never been able to, and now he is seriously set for a triumph in the tournament.

"The Europa League is very important for the club! I personally want to make it to the finals and try to win this trophy. In the final analysis, this alone matters. In whatever tournament you take part, you aim only at winning. Especially with such a club and such a team. Now we have a great opportunity. We respect teams that continue to struggle. It will not be easy, and we do not believe that success will come to us personally, but our goal is to win. Nothing else matters ".

The return semifinal match against Celta will take place at the home stadium of Manchester, which, according to Carrick, has a special magic.

"Around Old Trafford is different atmosphere, you feel some kind of additional positive energy. When you approach the arena, it seems that more people are going to, there is a stronger excitement. I think this is due to the fact that over the years the team has given out so many special European Cup matches.

In some of them I was lucky to take part, about which I had the best memories ".

"I especially remember the victory over Barcelona 1-0 in the semifinals of 2008. That game I will never forget. The atmosphere and emotions were absolutely unique. You can also remember the meeting with Roma, when we won with a score of 7: 1, this match for a number of reasons also turned out to be a special ".

Duel with Celta will be held on May 11 and will start at 22:05 Kiev time.
