Midfielder Pescara Sally Muntari left the field in Sunday's match against Cagliari after the referee showed him a yellow card in response to complaints about racism.

Referee Daniele Minelli showed Muntari a yellow card in the 90th minute of the game, after which the Ghanaian left the field, leaving his team with ten men for the last minutes.

After the game, 32-year-old Muntari said that from the very beginning of the match he was insulted by a group of fans, including children.

"There was a little child who shouted insults, standing next to their parents. So I went up to him, gave him my T-shirt and said not to do it. I had to set an example so that he grew up good, "Muntari said..

"The referee told me that I should not talk to the fans. I asked him if he had heard insults. I insisted that he should have the courage to stop the game ".

"A judge should not just stay on the field and whistle, he must be responsible for many things. He should take into account similar incidents and set an example. I'm not a victim.

But if you stop the match, then I'm sure this will not happen again ".

Pescara's head coach Zdenek Zdeman expressed support for Muntari, but stated that the player did not have to leave the field.

"Muntari left the field because of racist insults, but we should not take justice into our own hands," Zdeman said..

"We've been talking about racism for years, but nothing happens. Today it happened with Muntari, who has been playing in Italy for several years now. We must change this mentality ".
