Oleksandr Usyk renounced the WBO title and his status as the absolute champion.

Former manager of the WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO world heavyweight champion Alexander Usik, Alexander Krasyuk, explained why the Ukrainian boxer made such a choice.

" The official challenger was supposed to be appointed immediately after the fight with Dubois, but Alexander took a break, citing injury. The WBO gave the champion the necessary time to recover, and when this period expired, the question arose again:

either defend the title or vacate it,” he said.

Krasyuk also expressed his opinion on whether Usyk did the right thing:.

“I think that Alexander did the right thing - the fight with Wardley now does not carry the slightest content: neither sports, nor media, nor commercial.”.

Earlier, the WBC President commented on the situation with Usyk’s title defense.
