The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) did not allow the Russian team to participate in the World Cup-2026. The appropriate decision was reported by the federation of hockey aggressor state. On February 3 and 4, a meeting of IIHF was held, at which it was decided to continue the disqualification of the national teams of Russia and Belarus of all age categories because of the war in Ukraine. Since the removal of Russia and Belarus is designed at least until the end of 2026, the national teams from these countries will not be allowed to the world championships 2025 and 2026.
It is also noted that the issue of the participation of the Russian hockey team at the 2026 Olympics will be considered separately by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Russian hockey players have been missing world championships since 2022 as a result of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation to Ukraine. World Cup 2025 for hockey in the elite division will take place from May 9 to 25 in Sweden and Denmark. The Swiss cities of Zurich and Friburg will accept the planetary championship of 2026.
