Quite unexpectedly, from the first minutes the Merseysiders began to play quite actively and were able to quickly open the scoring. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the 13th minute.
A little later, the Toffees' lead was doubled thanks to a goal from Iliman Ndiaye, who scored in the 30th minute.
In stoppage time towards the first half, the score was brought to a devastating one, and this happened thanks to an own goal by Archie Gray.

In injury time, the Londoners, thanks to the efforts of Richarlison, reduced the gap to a minimum, but it was already too late.
