The promoter of British ex-boxer Tyson Fury (34-2–1, 24 KOs) Frank Warren does not see any prerequisites for the Ukrainian world champion according to WBC, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs). Warren believes that such a development of events is absolutely unrealistic.
" Look at his size – it’s impossible,” said the head of Queensberry Promotions in an interview with Sky Sports.
Since 2018, Usik has not fought in the cruiserweight division and has already firmly established himself in the heavyweight division, where in his last five fights his weight always exceeded 100 kg.
“Just look at his size – it won’t happen,” added Warren, suggesting that Usik’s next opponent will be the winner of the Dubois vs. Parker title fight, which will take place on February 22.
“The most profitable fight for him is a fight with the winner of this fight. It's a big fight, a big one,"
Dubois faced Usyk in 2023, losing in the ninth round. In that fight, Usik found himself on the canvas after a low blow, but recovered within the allotted time and was able to stop the Briton.
Despite this, Warren is confident that Dubois could have beaten Usyk: “I still think he would have won if it weren’t for what was going on in his head because of the referee,” Warren said. “A four-minute break changed everything.”. He had a chance to finish the fight, but the referee told Usyk to take more time.
Now, after a convincing win over Anthony Joshua in September, where he dispatched his opponent in five rounds, Dubois has emerged as a dangerous champion..
Warren is convinced that by the end of this year it will be Dubois, and not Usik, who will become the undisputed world heavyweight champion.
" I'm sure he will become a champion,"
At the end of last year, the head of the promotion company Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, suggested pairing Alexander with Australian Jay Opeta (26-0, 20 KOs), who is called the best in the cruiserweight division. According to the promoter, this fight is the only worthwhile option for the Ukrainian champion, since there are almost no other interesting opponents left for him.
