On Saturday, January 18, the fifth stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany, continued with the women's relay race. Ukraine was represented in it by Elena Gorodnaya, Yulia Jima, Irina Petrenko and Kristina Dmitrenko. The Blue-Yellows finished in tenth position. At the first stage, Gorodnaya practiced prone shooting thoroughly and left the firing line in sixth position. On the stand, Elena was forced to use three additional rounds and dropped to 13th place, where she passed the baton. In the second stage, Jima made one inaccurate shot in the prone stage, leaving her in 13th place. While standing, Yulia shot flawlessly, thanks to which she reached 12th position, but the baton was passed on to the 14th. At the third stage, Petrenko shot cleanly prone, finishing in 13th place.. Irina worked the stance with one additional cartridge and passed the baton in 13th position. At the final stage, Dmitrenko made one mistake in prone shooting, remaining in 13th place. Thanks to her accurate shooting while standing, Kristina pulled the Ukrainian team up to tenth place, where our team finished. Germany won the relay.
