The Ukrainian men's biathlon team showed the best result of the World Cup season in the relay race. Trainer Nadezhda Belova’s wards took sixth place at the stage in Ruhpolding, and at the equator of the distance the “blue-yellows” took second position, but could not hold it.

For the race, the coach of our team chose the tactics of the so-called running relay race, writes the biathlon portal. com. ua. This means that the strongest athletes run the starting stages. In the case of the Ukrainians, these were captain Dmitry Pidruchny and Vitaly Mandzyn.

The downside of this tactic is that with each stage the team’s opponents begin to catch up. At the same time, Artem Dudchenko and finisher Taras Lesyuk managed to maintain a fairly high pace along the route.

As a result, Ukrainian biathletes avoided penalty loops, using seven additional rounds. In the final protocol, the gap between the “blue-yellows” and the victorious France was 1 minute 19 seconds.

Second place went to the Swedish team, which was 20 seconds ahead of the German team. Norway sensationally left without awards.

Sixth place was the best result of the relay for the Ukrainians since December 2023, when they took fifth place at the stage in Hochfilzen.
