World Boxing Council (WBC) bridgeweight champion Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs) offered to fight Alexander Usik (23-0, 14 KOs). The South African, who fights in the intermediate division between heavy and super heavyweight, is ready to go to Ukraine for this.

Lerena himself stated this in an interview with the World Boxing News portal.. The 32-year-old boxer noted that Usik today is the real personification of this sport. A possible fight against Kevin and victory in it will make Alexander a world champion in three weight categories.

" He's the face of boxing at the moment, so 100 percent he could get a chance. He can do what he wants. I was supposed to defend my title in Ukraine in February, but now the date has been moved to the end of March, which may not fit with other possible plans due to other fight offers, but the fight with Usyk was never offered to me. But I’m ready for it,” Lerena said.

Note that Lerena helped Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) prepare for a rematch with Usyk, working as a sparring partner in the Briton’s camp. In December 2022, Kevin lost to Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) in a controversial fight in which his opponent suffered an ACL injury, but was saved by an early gong.
