The German team lost to the Japanese team in a friendly match. The meeting at the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg ended in a crushing defeat for the Germans with a score of 1:4. Already in the 11th minute, the guests were given the lead by Zunya Ito, but eight minutes later the Bundesteam responded with a goal from Leroy Sane. In the 22nd minute, the Asian team took the lead again - Ayase Ueda scored a precise shot. In the second half, the Germans failed to recoup. Japan scored twice more - Takuma Asano and Ao Tanaka scored at the end of the match. Match review.

It should be noted that at the 2022 World Championships in Qatar, the Germans also lost to the Japanese. Then the Asians won at the start of the group stage with a score of 2:1. As a result, the Bundesteam failed to reach the playoffs of the Mundial, letting Japan and Spain go there.. The defeat in a friendly match with the Japanese was the third in a row for Hansi Flick's team. Before that, the Germans lost to Colombia (0:2) and Poland (0:1).

Thus, the German team set an anti-record - the Bundesteam suffered three defeats in a row for the first time since 1985 (and for the first time since the reunification of the country in 1990). Let us remind you that Germany, as the host of Euro 2024, does not participate in the selection for the future continental championship. The draw for the final part of the European Championship will take place in December 2023, and the tournament itself will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
