Midfielder of London Arsenal and the England national team Declan Rice originally expressed support for Ukraine after the match of the 5th round of qualifying for Euro 2024. The 24-year-old midfielder gave an interview to a Ukrainian journalist in the mix zone. Finally, she asked Rice if Arsenal teammate Alexander Zinchenko had taught him anything in Ukrainian. Declan said he didn't know anything.. In response, the journalist suggested that the football player study the slogan “Glory to Ukraine,” to which the Englishman readily agreed and quite clearly pronounced the patriotic phrase.

Note that this summer Arsenal acquired Rice from West Ham for 120 million euros. This is the most expensive transfer in the history of the Gunners. The Ukrainian national team earned a draw against the English team – 1:1. The Three Lions responded to Zinchenko's goal with a precise shot from Kyle Walker. After the matches of the fifth round, the England team (13 points) is leading in Group C. In second place is Ukraine (7 points). Followed by Italy (4), North Macedonia (4) and Malta (0). As part of the 6th round of Euro 2024 qualifying, the Italians will host Ukraine on September 12, and North Macedonia will play away against Malta.

The two best teams from each group will advance to the finals of the 2024 European Championship. The holders of three more tickets to the continental championship will be determined in the playoffs, which will include 12 teams depending on their performance in the 2022/23 Nations League. The draw for the final part of Euro 2024 will take place in December 2023, and the tournament itself will be hosted by Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The German national team, as the host of the tournament, entered the continental championship without qualification.
