On Thursday, September 7, as part of the 5th round of qualifying for Euro 2024, Group B matches were played: the French team defeated Ireland at home (2:0), and the Netherlands beat Greece at home (3:0). The French scored a goal against the Irish in each half. In the 19th minute, Aurelien Tchouameni opened the scoring after a pass from Kylian Mbappe. In the 48th minute, Les Blais' lead was strengthened by Marcus Thuram, who set the final score for the match.. In a parallel match, the Netherlands upset the Greeks with three clean sheets, all of which came not in the first half. In the 17th minute, Oranje took the lead from Martin de Rhone. Then, in the 31st minute, Cody Gakpo scored a goal, and another eight minutes later, Wout Weghorst scored. Both times Denzel Dumfries acted as an assistant.. After these matches, the Group B standings are headed by France (15 points), having won five matches in a row. Next are the Netherlands (3 games, 6 points), Greece (4 matches, 6 points), Ireland (4 matches, 3 points) and Gibraltar (4 matches, 0 points). The winners of three more trips to the continental championship will be determined in the playoffs, where 12 teams will go, depending on their performance in the 2022/23 Nations League. The draw for the final part of Euro 2024 will take place in December 2023, and the tournament itself will be hosted by Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The German national team, as the host of the tournament, entered the continental championship without qualification.
