Svitolina dealt with a native of Moscow and reached the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon-2023

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina made it to the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon 2023. In the third round match, a 28-year-old native of Odessa (No. 76 WTA) beat an American of Russian origin Sofia Kenin (No. 128 WTA), who was born in Moscow. Sophia's family moved to the US a few months after her birth. The fight lasted one hour and 34 minutes and ended with the score 7:6 (7:3), 6:2 in favor of the Ukrainian. Note that Svitolina reached the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon for the first time in four years.. Elina plays in the main draw of the grass major for the ninth time. Her best result at this Grand Slam tournament is the semi-finals in 2019.

For a ticket to the quarterfinals, Svitolina will fight against Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, who, due to the war in Ukraine, was admitted to the tournament in a neutral status. Earlier it was reported that Lesya Tsurenko snatched a ticket to the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon-2023. An experienced Ukrainian beat Romanian Ana Bogdan in a super-difficult match.
