FC Lviv became the first club to be relegated from the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) at the end of the 2022/23 season. This happened after the “citizens” in the 27th round of the UPL lost to “Rukh” with a score of 2:0. The Yellow-Blacks snatched the victory at the end of the meeting. In the 76th minute, Lviv defender Sergei Siminin scored an own goal, and in the 84th minute, Rukh striker Vasily Runich scored the second goal into the opponent's goal.

After this defeat, Lviv (13 points), three rounds before the end of the championship, took the last place in the UPL ahead of schedule, losing the mathematical chances of maintaining a residence permit in the elite division.
