Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina defeated Russian Anna Blinkova in her opening match at the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. In the 1/16 finals, Kalinina will fight the winner of the match between American Sofia Kenin and Belarusian Arina Sobolenko. In addition to Angelina, two more Ukrainians continue their performances at the tournament in Rome - Lesya Tsurenko and Marta Kostyuk.

In the second round, on May 12, Tsurenko will face American Bernarda Pera, and Kostyuk will face another US representative, Claire Liu.. Earlier, the main star of Ukrainian tennis Elina Svitolina lost to Tsurenko at the start of the tournament in Rome.
