A group of Swiss parliamentarians wrote an open letter to the UEFA President, in which they urge to do everything so that the Euro 2024 qualifying match between the national teams of Belarus and Switzerland, scheduled for March 25, 2023, does not take place.
“The Swiss team is due to play in a European Championship qualifier against a team from a country responsible for the worst human rights violations and supporting Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine – something we cannot condone,” reads the open letter, cited by the human rights group..

The letter was signed by three dozen members of both chambers of the Swiss Parliament and sent to the President of the European Football Association (UEFA) Aleksander Ceferin (Slovenia). More than a hundred members of the European Parliament made a similar appeal to UEFA.
The non-governmental companies Libereco and Campax, as well as another Swiss NGO, have already launched a campaign demanding that UEFA exclude Belarus from the 2024 European Championship, which will be held in June-July 2024 in Germany.
