Two-time Ukrainian NBA champion Stanislav Medvedenko published a letter from nine federations to FIBA demanding that Russians and Belarusians not be allowed to compete under their auspices.

The letter was signed by the heads of the basketball federations of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden:.

" If FIBA does not take any effective support measures, it is understandable that all the mentioned National Basketball Federations will consider withdrawing nominated candidates from all FIBA commissions, structures and programs,"

Recall that on March 2 last year, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) suspended all Russian teams from competitions under its auspices.

In May, FIBA extended the validity of the decision until the next review of this issue..

Recently, the International Olympic Committee called for the admission of representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus to international competitions in a neutral status, provided that they were not seen actively supporting the war in Ukraine and comply with doping laws..
