The student ice hockey team of Ukraine defeated Sweden in its third match at the World Winter Universiade, which takes place in the US in Lake Placid.

The match ended with the score 12:2 in favor of the Ukrainian team.

In the starting seven minutes of the meeting, Vadim Shakhraychuk's wards scored four unanswered goals, but by the end of the first period, the opponent cut the gap by half.

But the second and third periods passed with the complete dominance of the Ukrainians - in them, our compatriots managed to score three and five “dry” goals, respectively, against the Swedes.

For the Ukrainian team, this is the first victory at the Universiade-2023. At the start of the tournament, the Blue-Yellows lost to Canada (1:

6), after which they lost to Latvia in overtime (2:3).

Thus, after three matches played, the Ukrainians are third in the standings, having 4 points in their assets.. Above are only Canada (9) and the Czech Republic (7).

The Ukrainian national team will play the next match against Japan on January 19. Two teams from each group will advance to the Universiade playoffs.
