Ukrainian biathlete Daria Blashko spoke about how she survived the start of a full-scale war in Chernihiv.

" We managed to train for two days, and the war began. The explosions were very close: we thought that all the windows would fly out. Then the light went out, we were left without heating, water supply and were unable to cook food.. It was impossible to stay there.. Base workers lived there, whom we got to know better in the basement. They invited us to their home. But there is also war.

On March 11, we witnessed a terrible shelling. I don’t know what exactly the Russians bombed with, but they just burned everything, everything flared up like matches. I never imagined that I would ever see something like this. By some miracle, we managed to travel to the west of the country, stopping along the way with our sports friends. For three months I could not recover and could not train. Some of the sounds of the cars reminded me of military planes and helicopters that were firing at us," ua.

Recall that on February 24, Russian President Putin made an urgent statement about conducting a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, launching a large-scale invasion of Ukrainian cities..

Chernihiv region was one of the first to take the blow of the invaders, as it was an important goal on the way to Kyiv.

On April 6, thanks to the efforts of the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chernihiv region was completely liberated from Russian invaders..
