Uruguay stars face lengthy ban for behavior at 2022 World Cup

Uruguay players Edinson Cavani and Jose Maria Jimenez face up to six months suspension by the International Football Federation (FIFA) for incidents at the 2022 World Cup.

It is reported by RMC Sport.

Uruguayans can be punished for their actions at the end of the 2022 World Cup match with Ghana (2: 0).

After the final whistle, Cavani pushed the VAR monitor and Jimenez accidentally hit the FIFA representative.

FIFA has informed the Football Federation of Uruguay that the time until 9 January 2023 to present its version of events. The final decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee will not be known until the end of February.

It is noted that Cavani and Jimenez may receive a ban for 10-15 matches of the national team or be suspended for the same period in their clubs.. Cavani plays for Valencia and Jimenez for Atletico.
