The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland next week will consider the claim of Shakhtar Donetsk against the International Football Federation (FIFA).

It is reported by The Athletic.

The Pitmen are seeking €50 million in compensation due to new rules that allowed the team's legionnaires to suspend contracts due to the war.

The club's lawyers insist that FIFA's decision was made without consultation with representatives of Shakhtar or the Ukrainian Football Association..

Donetsk residents want to prove that the suspension of contracts violates the laws of Ukraine and Switzerland, as well as the EU competition law, and FIFA had no right to interfere in the contracts, not being one of the parties to cooperation.

Recall that against the backdrop of Russia's military aggression and after permission from FIFA, many legionnaires left Shakhtar. In the first half of the current season, only Lassina Traore, Lukas Taylor and Neven Jurasek played for the foreign team. The last two came to the club after the start of the war.

Earlier it was reported that Shakhtar's Brazilian legionnaire refused to return to the club.
