The US Olympic and Paralympic Committees supported the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, but under neutral flags.

This was stated by the head of the US Olympic Committee Susan Lyons, according to The Wall Street Journal..

“Despite the fact that it leaves a rather unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth, such a step is important for the Olympic movement.. We continue to support the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian athletes.

The US supports the search for ways to come back and compete for athletes who have been training for this all their lives.

But we strongly oppose them returning under the flags of their countries while their governments are under sanctions,"

The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The competition program includes 32 sports.

Recall, the Minister of Youth and Sports and the newly elected President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that 36 countries demand that the IOC remove Russians and Belarusians from leadership in international sports.
