The meeting of the 1st round of the UPL at the Kolos stadium in Kovalivka ended with a minimal victory for the hosts with a score of 1:0.

The decisive goal in this match was scored in the 36th minute. Its author was the defender of the Kovalovsky club Roman Goncharenko.

Note that the fight turned out to be very emotional.. At the end of the second half, the head coach of the Krivoy Rog team, Yuriy Vernidub, lost his nerve. The eminent specialist received a red card for emotionally expressing dissatisfaction with the work of the judges. After his removal, the coach even pointedly waved his hand at the side referee of the match.

It was the first official match for Vernydub at the head of Kryvbas. In the summer, he headed the Kryvyi Rih club, which returned to the UPL after a long break, and now he will combine his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with coaching.

In the next round, Kolos will host Rukh on August 28, while Kryvbas will play an away game against Shakhtar on the same day.

Recall that in the opening match of the UPL-2022/23, Shakhtar failed to beat Metalist 1925.
