Ukrainian Artur Felfner won gold in the javelin throw on the fifth day of the U20 World Championships in Athletics.
The Ukrainian started the competition with 76. 20 m, with which he took the lead after the first attempt, but already in the next the German Max Denning moved the Ukrainian to the second line (77. 24 m). Everything returned to its place in the fifth attempt, when Felfner returned to the first position (79. 36 m).
The Felfner medal was the first for the junior team of Ukraine at the World Championships held in Colombia. This gold allowed the “blue-yellows” to rise immediately to the 18th line of the medal standings.
Felfner became European Under-20 champion last year.
The Junior World Championships in Cali will end on Saturday, August 6.
Recall that Felfner was selected for the adult World Championships in Athletics due to his position in the world rankings, but decided to refuse to participate in the world championship.
