During a full-scale war, the team faced a difficult task - to win the highest awards of a large-scale water polo tournament. At the same time, the team did not have the opportunity to fully prepare.

Nevertheless, the Ukrainians managed to show a high level of play.

On the way to the medals, the team of the Lviv State University of Physical Education played six fights - they celebrated the victory four times and lost twice to the Hungarian team of the Budapest Business School.

— Alexander Yurievich, the team finished among the winners of the European University Games. How do you like the game of the national team and the result that our guys showed?

- Considering that the guys had no game practice for half a year, they could not fully train because of the war that continues in our country, I am quite satisfied with the result of the team.

In each match, the team of the Ivan Bobersky University of Physical Education, where our guys study, demonstrated character and fighting qualities. Just look how much emotion the semi-final match against the University of Debrecen brought.

- The guys fought the whole match like lions in water, demonstrated their character. Until the last second of the meeting, it was not known who would be the winner.. And in the end we won a bright victory 16-15. I really liked this persistence of our team.

In general, the current men's water polo team is encouraging. I think that the backbone of this team has been formed, I want young players to add more and in the near future this team will adequately represent the country in the international arena.

Of course, physically they were not 100% ready and it was noticeable, especially in the final match against the team from Budapest. One player played on injections, the other had injuries. And, in general, we lacked freshness in the final match.

The physical component plays an important role in water polo, there were not enough guys for all the matches of the European games.

- Of course, the preparation was not complete, but we are winners. I am glad that Ukraine returns from Lodz with medals, because these are silver medals and we set the maximum tasks, but, at the same time, there is an understanding that the water polo players did not have a full-fledged training cycle.

The team completed the task set by the management of the FVPU - to be among the winners. For this I would like to thank the coaching staff and every water polo player who contributed to our common victory..

— You know, now every fan has reasons to be happy.

There is a full-scale war going on in the country and there are not many reasons to rejoice, but victories on the sports front are a joy and at the same time proof that Ukrainians win on all fronts.

Today we are second at the European University Games. The whole water polo family dedicates this result to our defenders and defenders.
