Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok, who stopped a step away from the Wimbledon doubles final, spoke about the situation in tennis against the backdrop of Russia's war against Ukraine.

" It was better at Wimbledon now that Russian and Belarusian players were suspended. We try to do our thing and play on. But I hope that the situation in tennis in general will change and that there will be appropriate actions in the near future.. But I hope that the situation in tennis as a whole will change,"

Kichenok also appealed to athletes who do not support the removal of the Russians.

" I also regret that I did not follow the news until February 24. Thought there was something going on. But now I try very hard to follow and I advise them to do this.. They have the opportunity to understand what is happening with us, because they can watch different channels,"

Recall that the newly minted winner of Wimbledon-2022, Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina refused to express her position on the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine..
