Lyudmila Kichenok, paired with Latvian tennis player Elena Ostapenko, lost to the Czech duet of Barbora Kreychikova and Ekaterina Sinyakova in the Wimbledon semi-finals - 2:6, 2:6.

The match lasted 1 hour 16 minutes. During this time, Kichenok and Ostapenko did not complete a single ace and made 5 double faults.

Czech tennis players took revenge for the defeat of last season in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells and interrupted the winning streak of Kichenok and Ostapenko on grass. It lasted 10 matches.

In the final of the Wimbledon doubles tournament, the Czechs will play with the winners of the second semi-final Mertens (Belgium) / Zhang (China) - Collins / Krawczyk (USA).

It should be noted that Lyudmila Kychenok is the first Ukrainian tennis player in 16 years to reach the semifinals of the doubles tournament at Wimbledon.. The last time this happened was in 2006.. Then Tatyana Perebiynis and Yuliana Fedak stopped a step away from the final.

In June, Kichenok and Ostapenko won the doubles tournament in Birmingham - this is their first joint career triumph.. After that, they reached the final of the tournament in Eastbourne, but withdrew from the decisive match due to an injury to the Latvian tennis player.
