Ukrainian Lyudmila Kichenok and Latvian Elena Ostapenko made it to the semi-finals of the doubles at Wimbledon-2022.

In the quarterfinals of the tournament, tennis players defeated Suko Aoyama from Japan and Zhang Haoqing from Chinese Taipei - 4:6, 6:1, 7:5.

The match lasted 2 hours 4 minutes. During this time, Kichenok and Ostapenko filed right through four times, made a double fault three times and converted five of the seven breakpoints.

In the semi-finals, Lyudmila and Elena will meet with Olympic champions Barbora Kreichikova and Ekaterina Sinyakova (Czech Republic).

It should be noted that Lyudmila Kichenok is the first Ukrainian tennis player in 16 years to reach the semifinals of the doubles tournament at Wimbledon.. The last time this happened was in 2006..

Then Tatyana Perebiynis and Yuliana Fedak stopped a step away from the final.

In June, Kichenok and Ostapenko won the doubles tournament in Birmingham - this is their first joint career triumph.. After that, they reached the final of the tournament in Eastbourne, but withdrew from the decisive match due to an injury to the Latvian tennis player.

Recall that in the men's and women's categories at Wimbledon, all the quarterfinalists were determined.
