The leader of the Ukrainian national team in javelin throw Artur Felfner qualified for the adult world championship in athletics due to his position in the world ranking, but decided to refuse to participate in the world championship.

In a comment to Suspіlna Sport, the athlete explained his action.

" ) you had to fly to the USA and stay there for another 10 days. It's very long, I wouldn't have time to prepare for my junior world championship (under 20). Namely, these competitions are more important for me,"

The Junior World Championships in Athletics (under 20) will be held in Colombia in early August. Competitions in the javelin throwing sector will be held on August 1 - qualification and August 3 - final.

Felfner 2021 became the European champion among juniors (under 20 years old) and vice-world champion in the same age category.

And already this year, the athlete has updated his personal records several times, approaching the absolute record of Ukraine. His best attempt was set in June in Slovakia - 84. 32 meters. This is the fifth best result in the history of Ukraine as a whole, only two throwers showed better results..

Recall that the representative of Ukraine Andriy Protsenko became the best in the high jump at the tournament of the Bronze Continental Tour in Liege, Belgium.
